We’re recruiting for an established manufacturing business in Scarborough that is looking for a Production Planner to work as part of a team taking responsibility for the scheduling and planning in a busy factory.
This is a highly visible, cross-functional role where you’ll work closely with production, engineering, projects, contracts and stores. You’ll be responsible for balancing capacity, materials and priorities to make sure products move through the factory in line with required delivery dates.
It’s a great opportunity for someone who enjoys the detail of production planning but also wants the responsibility and interaction that comes with influencing activity across a busy manufacturing operation.
As Production Planner, you’ll take ownership of your production plan from scheduling through to delivery, identifying potential issues and working with colleagues to keep everything on track.
Your responsibilities will include:
Creating, maintaining and adjusting production plans for one to two manufacturing lanes
Planning production against finite capacity and available resources
Balancing workloads and coordinating priorities across different work centres
Working closely with lane leaders, engineering, projects, contracts, stores and other departments
Monitoring production progress and identifying shortages, bottlenecks, risks and potential delays
Managing priorities and escalating issues where required to protect delivery
Using MRP and SAP systems to support production and material planning
Producing and maintaining detailed planning reports and production data
Using Excel extensively to analyse information and support planning decisions
Chairing a weekly cross-functional planning meeting with colleagues from across the business
Participating in daily planning team meetings and wider Teams meetings
Communicating planning performance, risks and priorities to management
Supporting continuous improvement across production planning processes
We’d be keen to speak with Production Planners, Manufacturing Planners, Production Schedulers or Supply Chain Planners who have experience working within a manufacturing environment.
You’ll need:
Proven experience in production planning or manufacturing supply chain planning
Experience creating, managing and taking ownership of production plans
Practical knowledge of finite capacity planning
Experience using an MRP or ERP system
Strong Excel and general IT skills
Confidence working with high volumes of production data, reporting and administration
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
The ability to communicate and coordinate effectively across manufacturing, engineering and other business functions
Experience with SAP would be particularly useful.
Exposure to inventory planning, demand planning, S&OP, material management, Lean Manufacturing or wider supply chain planning would also be beneficial, but isn't essential.
This is a permanent, fully site-based position in Scarborough.
Monday to Thursday: 8:00am - 4:30pm
Friday: 8:00am - 1:30pm
Alongside the opportunity to take real ownership of production planning within an established manufacturing environment, you'll receive:
5% STIP bonus
28 days' holiday plus bank holidays
Option to buy or sell up to 5 days' holiday
Share incentive plan
Company sick pay
Pension scheme with employer contributions increasing depending on your chosen contribution
Structured grading framework offering opportunities for future progression
This role would suit someone who combines strong production planning knowledge with excellent IT skills and enjoys working across departments to solve problems, balance priorities and keep manufacturing on schedule.
